Alain Bouvier - Group Manager
Violinist Alain Bouvier graduated with an honours bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the Glenn Gould School, where he studied with such notable violinists as Mark Fewer, and Annalee Patipatanakoon (Gryphon Trio). He was also a mainstay member of The Veritas Piano Quartet (2002-2005). This ensemble-in-residence performed the famous works of Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann in Toronto (CBC Radio two), Guelph (Guelph Spring Festival), Barrie (Colours of Music Festival), as well as various cities in Quebec.
In addition, Alain was a member of The Royal Conservatory Orchestra (2001-2005) where he played first violin for such maestros as Simon Streatfield, Leon Fleisher, the late Richard Bradshaw, and Bramwell Tovey. He is currently the concertmaster of Masterworks of Oakville, assistant concertmaster of the Canadian Sinfonietta, and principal second of the Oakville Chamber Orchestra. Between Alain's busy orchestral schedule, he performs continuously with The Alexsandre Ensemble, of which he is the founding member. Alain also keeps a busy teaching schedule at The Music Spot in Toronto's Beaches community.
Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that organizing your event is a daunting task. The Alexsandre Ensemble has created a list of answers to your most popular questions below:
If I don't see the particular song I want in your repertoire list, can I still have it played?
Our repertoire list is only a representation of our most popular selections. Many of our clients have requested specific songs outside of the list on the website. Feel free to ask us which song you would like to have played. We will likely be able to find it for you!
Can I meet with you in person?
Yes, we offer this service free of charge. Please contact us so that we can arrange a mutual time to meet to discuss your needs.
Do you travel outside the GTA for events?
We have done many events outside of the GTA from Niagara Falls to Montreal. There are extra fees associated with mileage and the time spent travelling. Please contact us to receive a specific quote for your location.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, there is a 50% deposit required along with the signed agreement. The other 50% is payable on the date of the event.
If my event goes over the allocated agreed time, what happens?
During the consultation we will use our experience to guide you in booking the ensemble for the appropriate length of time. The Alexsandre Ensemble does however understand that events can sometimes last longer than anticipated. If this happens, our musicians will happily continue playing provided that they do not have other bookings following your event. An extra rate of $40 per player for each additional 15 minutes will be charged in these circumstances.
Can The Alexsandre Ensemble play outside?
Provided that the actual temperature is between 15-30 degrees Celsius and there is no rain, musicians can play outside. Rain can cause severe damage to instruments, especially stringed instruments. If it is really sunny, we may request to sit in a shaded area as the heat from the sun's rays can damage the varnish on stringed instruments.
What is the musical background of musicians?
All of our players are professional and qualified musicians and are members of such orchestras as The National Ballet of Canada, The Canadian Opera Company, The Canadian Sinfonietta, Sinfonia Toronto, and many more.
